I find this noteworthy given a couple things:
The press conference mention a large number of arrests, and seizure of a large quantity of drug/money/vehicles/planes/boats/weapons…
Also there’s a vague mention to the use of classified technical means of intercepting unencrypted communications.
Subsequent investigations established that the company behind the tool was operating via servers in France. Eventually, it was possible to place a technical device to go beyond the encryption technique and obtain access to users’ correspondence.
Sounds like they physically backdoored the servers somehow. At first blush it seems like the system wasn’t very well designed if getting control of the servers allowed Interpol to just bypass the encryption
