Please let it not have Denuvo or any other bullshit DRM.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, a narrative-driven action role-playing game set in the universe of the sci-fi TV series of the same name.
They were books first…
They at least mention the books towards the end of article. Based on the visuals it is clearly based on the TV show
I like the show, but the books are infinitely better
I personally think that this is a rare case where both the books and the TV series are equally good. The Expanse is both my favorite TV series and my favorite book series. What did you like better about the books?
I prefer literary descriptions, they can go into far more detail than a show can because who’s going to tell an author “okay that’s enough, next scene”
Don’t get me wrong, I loved the show. Very unfortunate how things ended with THAT one actor though…
Yeah the whole thing with what’s his face was disappointing. I agree with you about the descriptive nature of books in general though.
The lack of awful SyFy channel production
They’re the same IP, but they aren’t the same continuity. And I wouldn’t be surprised if they have the license for the show specifically and not the books.
Look at it this way, if a new Witcher game was being announced, how big of a difference would it make for it to be a spinoff of the existing games, a new adaptation of the books, or a an adaptation of the Netflix show?
The Rock Paper Shotgun article called it a Syfy universe 😫
An amazon original
They were an MMO before they were a ttrpg, before they were books…
The show was garbage compared to the books too
Holy shit. Owlcat is really stepping up to the plate with this one. After Larian Studios they are probably the 2nd best cRPG maker today, but they’ve never done an Action-RPG before.
Having played 40k:Rogue Trader I know they can handle the material, I am strangely confident about that, it’s the gameplay part I worry about.
Id say they’re better than Larian. Far faaaar more actual RPG in thier games. But that’s just my opinion.
I’m surprised they’re making this. I agree, theyre really stepping up.
Considering how Mass Effect-coded this is, I’m expecting quite a bit less RPG than usual from them here.
Ho now that’s a license I could see myself exploring. Loved the books and the series so far.
Cautiously excited for this, especially after the series cancellation. The books are excellent, but I could definitely see a game set in the universe working.
