Has this medication helped any of you, and if so, how long did it take for you to notice? I know it takes a week or two for the full effect, but I definitely feel something already. Haven’t really had a chance to test it out yet.
Edit: I’ve noticed that my sentences are a lot less choppy today. Going to try writing more and see how it goes.
I used it many years ago. Over a decade ago. For less than a week. While I was able to focus the majority of the time, I felt like a zombie when it faded, which was unsafe because I was usually driving home.
Also, it fucked with ejaculation, and now that sucks, instead of being a pleasant sensation. YMMV
Wait, it did what? And that’s permanent now?
Yes. Permanent. It’s like someone stuck something in my urethra to create a blockage and now it’s more difficult to ejaculate, and less pleasant.
Oh right, the post-nut sensation of urethra blockage. I switched recently from Strattera to Vyvanse and haven’t experienced that since then, I think. Need to pay attention to see whether it is fully gone. I totally agree. That was very unpleasant. (in my case, ejaculation itself was fine)
Not even. It’s worse than that, it’s during the nut, and it’s almost like the tubes are constricted or something.
I use this and its generic and it works well enough for me. A short but instense bout of nausea about 3 hours after taking it as well as drowsiness and a bit of emotional detachment are my biggest side effects, but it seems to work better than other options for me!
Those I can deal with. No other issues?
Had super intense nausea and chest pain had to stop taking.
It killed my anxiety (and just made me enjoy my life more in general) but did nothing for the ADHD. Had to switch to methylphenedate.
I’ve been on it for about a year. No real side effects to speak of. Helps a ton.
I started taking atomoxetine (generic Strattera, fun fact Lilly no longer makes brand name Strattera because generics ate their lunch) two weeks ago. I had a good chunk of side effects for the first week or so (nausea, upset stomach, drowsiness, dry mouth, waking up 2-3 hours early, and weird random chills/goosebumps even when I was warm). Most of those have moderated or gone away (I’m way less drowsy, I sleep more fully through the night, and the chills went away). Protein shakes when I take my dose helps the nausea/upset stomach usually as well.
I had a bit of brain fog the first week or so, but the past two days or so has been so much different. I can focus on work way more easily, and notice when I’m getting distracted and it’s way easier to pull myself back into the task at hand. It’s not perfect, and I expect my doctor to up my dose from 40 to 80 mg when I talk to him after Christmas (at which point I expect to get the side effects all over again), but the 30-50% better already is huge.
My doctor wanted me to try atomoxetine before any stimulants because of a minor pre-existing arrhythmia, and truthfully it’s a lot easier for me since my job has random drug testing and even with a script it’s a huge hassle if I’m on anything controlled.
I gave it a month about 10 years ago and saw no improvement at any dosage. I had a friend for whom it wotked
