I am slowly migrating away from Last.fm (which still has one blogging friend who randomly quotes my statistics) to ListenBrainz. Initial import from Last.fm works just well - and after that, I needed to improvise:
- Music player: cmus.
- Scrobbling: cmus-status-scrobbler with both services enabled in the configuration file.
My “status display program” is a small shell script that does not (much) more than call cmus_status_scrobbler.py
. Works just well: ListenBrainz, Last.fm. :-)
Web Scrobbler for Streaming.
Nice, thank you! Also, for those who don’t want to use a console music player, Strawberry also has options for scrobbling to last.fm and ListenBrainz simultaneously.
Strawberry does not have macOS developers right now:
There currently isn’t any macOS developers actively working on this project, so we might not be able to help with issues specific to macOS.
So, while macOS has “downloads” available, I chose not to try it. That left me with
cmus
as the only option which I could find. (I compiled my own version of it, because of a few defaults I did not like.)
strawberry music player (desktop) and pano scrobbler (android) also do parallel scrobbling; they are my mechanism
Strawberry does not have macOS developers right now, and I also use iOS. But yes, on some systems, actively maintained alternatives exist.
i had it been using it on mac before i jumped off for linux a year or two ago, and now that you mention it, it didn’t seem well maintained even then. thanks for the reminder!
I’ve been running it on MacOS 13, seems to work fine.
For mobile you can use Pano Scrobbler, it works with both
It does not seem to be in the App Store.
Oh it’s android only
