  • Scared of change? This is not just change - we have never had social media algorithms putting shit into people’s head about themselves and others, all day, every single day.

This shit is affecting people’s entire perception of the world and who they are. It’s not just some random change.

I haven’t forgotten being a kid. But when I was growing up, the so called dangers were computer games and too much TV. That was nothing compared to weaponized algorithms picking content that will “engage” people (make them react).

Some kids today are completely out there with pluto man. They just lost any sense of reality. Their entire perception of the world is from social media algorithms from tech companies. That’s one scary thought.

Sure it’s funny with “old man yelling at the cloud”, but there is something here to be concerned about.

  • Graphics bugs are from the graphics drivers most of the time (but not always). I reported quite a few bugs in kde 5 about window decorations looking/acting weird, and it got fixed quickly.

I used to switch between gnome and plasma all the time but since plasma 6 came out and I switched to a 4k screen, I’ve been sticking with plasma without any issues. Gnome actually looks bad now on 4k for me. :)

It’s because people don’t have emotional maturity. They can’t stand someone having a different opinion. They don’t want to see that, they want to be protected from it by a daddy (moderator).

What happened to strong confident men? They are certainly not part of the Lemmy generation here.

Comments get reported for absolutely ridiculous reasons. If there was an actual war where we needed eachother, these men would be absolutely destroyed by not being able to be shielded from the opinions of their fellow humans.

Who are you talking about that is insisting there can be no deviation from the norm? And maybe you don’t realize how teaching works… You need someone willing to learn to be able to be able to have a teacher. Banning words and discussions is absolutely the wrong way to go. History has shown this many times.

And my point is very simple. Don’t ban words. Have open discussions. Don’t support censorship of opinions or words. Don’t be afraid of what people are actually thinking of things. Stop trying to control what people should think, and stop trying to teach them what you think is right.

People will not read something online and change their minds. Just like you are currently reading my words here, and you will not agree or change your mind. Neither will I. That’s how it works.

I can’t be your teacher unless you want to be my student.
