We know…People here sometimes complain when us Linux guys are saying the same, but if you discovered that Linux is actually pretty damn excellent, wouldn’t you tell people about it?
And you did. :)

Graphics bugs are from the graphics drivers most of the time (but not always). I reported quite a few bugs in kde 5 about window decorations looking/acting weird, and it got fixed quickly.
I used to switch between gnome and plasma all the time but since plasma 6 came out and I switched to a 4k screen, I’ve been sticking with plasma without any issues. Gnome actually looks bad now on 4k for me. :)
Maybe you can record a video to show the scrolling features and how you use it?
This one was a lot of fun, if it’s the one I think it is. Does it have instagib maps where you jump across platforms in space and one hit is one kill? I have very fond memories of that as a kid. Super fun.
Plasma is just the most excellent software, and it’s managing to be much better than windows while being free.
It’s because people don’t have emotional maturity. They can’t stand someone having a different opinion. They don’t want to see that, they want to be protected from it by a daddy (moderator).
What happened to strong confident men? They are certainly not part of the Lemmy generation here.
Comments get reported for absolutely ridiculous reasons. If there was an actual war where we needed eachother, these men would be absolutely destroyed by not being able to be shielded from the opinions of their fellow humans.
Amazing, we have so much choice now. /s
My plasma 6 desktop has absolutely stunning icons, and im like you - I like proper icons that look more interesting.
Try plasma 6, I’m sure those icon sets are also much more complete. :)
Love seeing friendly people like this. I would replace Musk and Trump with you on the planet.
I tried to find where it was but can’t find it…
I also had bugs around window rules to be honest.
People did this to themselves.
Unless we see some kind of regulation, today’s big tech is tomorrow’s big brother.
Good for you and have fun.
Yes, it has bugs still, specially for widgets and stuff like that. But it’s very stable if you don’t mess around with those things and just use it.
Yes, it never crashes anymore at all for me. Lots of work went into stability and bug fixes in plasma version 6.
So please don’t try it on Debian stable or something. Use the latest version!
It’s really stunning these days, super professional and clean, and really good themes actually too.
I really like being able to disable the mute-sound button on the task icons, since I sometimes misclick on them during meetings… And once I had apparently done that and turned off the sound for slack, so my huddle didn’t have any sound. Took me like 15 mins to find the reason since I thought it had to do with pulseaudio…
Who are you talking about that is insisting there can be no deviation from the norm? And maybe you don’t realize how teaching works… You need someone willing to learn to be able to be able to have a teacher. Banning words and discussions is absolutely the wrong way to go. History has shown this many times.
And my point is very simple. Don’t ban words. Have open discussions. Don’t support censorship of opinions or words. Don’t be afraid of what people are actually thinking of things. Stop trying to control what people should think, and stop trying to teach them what you think is right.
People will not read something online and change their minds. Just like you are currently reading my words here, and you will not agree or change your mind. Neither will I. That’s how it works.
I can’t be your teacher unless you want to be my student.
Well, you were talking about the positive aspects of autistic people only. Maybe it’s hard to notice that, but it sounds almost like you think they are a better version of non-autistic people. From my perspective, that’s not really how it is… :) Autism or not, people can have a lot of negative personality traits that make them a pain to be around.
Scared of change? This is not just change - we have never had social media algorithms putting shit into people’s head about themselves and others, all day, every single day.
This shit is affecting people’s entire perception of the world and who they are. It’s not just some random change.
I haven’t forgotten being a kid. But when I was growing up, the so called dangers were computer games and too much TV. That was nothing compared to weaponized algorithms picking content that will “engage” people (make them react).
Some kids today are completely out there with pluto man. They just lost any sense of reality. Their entire perception of the world is from social media algorithms from tech companies. That’s one scary thought.
Sure it’s funny with “old man yelling at the cloud”, but there is something here to be concerned about.
