It sort of is portable in the sense that if another company wants to hire you. They can initiate a visa transfer process so you can go work for them but that transfer process costs time and money, so it’s still designed to make it harder for people on visa to switch companies

China is pretty strict about preventing foreign companies from operating in China and India doesn’t allow foreign companies to directly do business in India. They have to spin off a profit sharing venture with a local company, that’s like 2 billion people right there and now with Trump antagonizing western allies, even Europeans are looking to move away from American businesses.

I don’t know why you think the number of followers gives religion any legitimacy. I’m sure your ancestors thought slavery was A okay or treating women as property was the right thing to do, and they would have likely been part of the majority back then, history still remembers them for the barbarians they were, just cause a lot of people hold some superstitious belief means nothing to me. There’s a reason people are becoming less religious and church attendance has been dropping on average decade after decade, I don’t see that trend changing direction, at least until WW3 or climate change fuck up society enough that praying for magic man in the sky is the only thing left for desperate people to do, not that it’ll lead to anything.

Make 1 to 1 copies of existing subreddits and maybe some kind of automation tool to take the subreddits someone is currently part of and subscribe the Lemmy versions of them automatically. That plus for now some people could repost content from these subreddits to Lemmy, so the feed isn’t so empty and also I don’t know how Google crawlers work exactly but searching for Reddit posts through Google is a big benefit of Reddit for me, if Lemmy could also show up in Google results or if Lemmy builds it’s own internal search to a level that’s equal to or better than Google that would also help
