I wonder what changed. The login bug has been gone for me for a while now.

Well that didn’t take long. They seized it. I just saw this post about it.
@lvl, I hope they didn’t just seize the account.
A great example of good motive failing.
More reputation should have meant more privilege. Yet it is too hard to get reputation.
Meow meow beans, anyone?

Along with that, it is very odd how so many of my friends (not tech people really) think that Apple created this [feature/hardware/etc] even though it has been around long before Apple started doing it.
I don’t hate Apple users or anything. Although the type of Apple user you described is the worst. That kind of user is in any realm. Bikes, phones, cars, whatever. Its not just an Apple thing… but Apple does have a lot of them.
@Sam_uk, nice! Thanks. I was on an IP somewhere in the US (VPN). So maybe I got a different result today being on a different IP. At least I know what is going on at kbin.world now. It all makes sense :-)
@Sam_uk Thanks for making me take another look. When I go to https://kbin.world/ it forwards me to https://kbin.social/m/usnews@lemmy.world
So I guess it wasn’t bringing me to the lemmy domain, just to view the lemmy community through kbin.
Wow, whoever owns kbin.world forwarded it to lemmy.world. 😐
@Holyginz, I would think you can do like on kbin, since it seems like the standard. Just guessing. Go to the user page on your instance then follow them.
To get to the user page go to:
https://yourInstance.social/u/@username@aDifferentInstance.social
For you go to https://lemmy.world/u/@wikimediafoundation@wikimedia.social
Then my guess is a lot of users are seeing something new and clicking along out of curiosity. Then they walk away and don’t look at it again :-)
@small44, did you already have an Instagram account and get automatically signed up? Just curious if that is what they are doing to get so many users.
Good question. Not ignorant. The one thing we use all the time but never think of as federated is email. Multiple users from different providers can reply all and everyone gets a copy. That is one way to help think about how the fediverse works. People using kbin and Lemmy have replied in this thread. We all see it. we are just using different providers/software to read and reply in the fediverse.
Others have already commented well on funding.
Bang links work for users on Kbin.
If that is Lemmy creating the URL or kbin seeing the bang format and using it, I don’t know… off to find out :-)
edit: experimenting here !kbin
edit2: I think Lemmy is creating a regular link out of that. My bang above was not auto converted on kbin.
Definitely a clunky term. It will be interesting to see what the feds come up with. Lets see if that catches on :-D
Seriously, I’m sure something good will emerge.
:-O so cool!
These social media giants seem to be self destructing themselves on purpose.
Ubuntu is Debian based… I think you can still call it that. So if you don’t like Ubuntu, try Debian. Its more stable/reliable.
I dropped it for the Fediverse. I decided to use kbin after trying Lemmy for a bit.
