You’re 100% right about that. I’ve never ran out of nice posts to look at on Pixelfed. I think the medium & format is a lot less addictive and a lot more relaxing/positive, which might help to explain it.

Pixelfed is definitely a good example of “its what you make it”.
Try searching for and following some hashtags that you’re interested in. I have an awesome home feed made up of art, design and photography hashtags and artists.
I would love to know how you get on with this.
The people who make writefreely are saying that they are working on making image uploads possible for self-hosted instances, not just their own at write.as. Currently if you are self-hosting you can insert an image but it must be hosted elsewhere and inserted via a markdown link.
Libreoffice is dope 💪
This looks a lot like Writefreely.
And you would be able to see blog posts in a fediverse feed and subscribe to a blog that way.
I love stuff like this. Thanks for sharing!
Good work!
I think you can make it only autocomplete your bookmarks in the settings.
If I were you I would definitely use Debian 12.
I downvote your upvote!
Yeah good - everyone is really positive about it when I tell them.
I’m not sure how many of them end up using the fediverse based on our conversation but I think broader and more important cultural changes are built on slow but widespread indications of shifting values; I think conversations about what the fediverse stands for is actually more important than people using it.
Ah so that’s what it was!
Sure, I just found it too annoying and the easiest solution was to uninstall Brave.
After installing Brave I was getting some kind of failed login popup in my GNOME desktop environment. Uninstalled it and the popup disappeared. It gave me the heeby jeebies about Brave.
This post needs to get to 666 upvotes and stay there.
I don’t use any closed source or centralised social media any more but I speak to people in real life about the Fediverse and share links to fediverse posts with my friends and family.
Yeah, I haven’t logged into my fb account for a couple of years but this might be a good reason to go in and leave something in my ‘bio’ or whatever monstrosity it is these days, I can’t even remember.
Check out YUNOhost. I had a Pixelfed server up and running in 20 mins.
