  • But why all this complaining if we’re just huge annoying burdens you need to be rescued from marrying?

because it’s significantly easier to blame and complain about women than it is to “risk” becoming equals by joining the fight against the patriarchy which is actually to blame.

Just like it’s easier for them to dismiss their behaviour as “a joke” and gaslight you in to thinking you’re basically “just being hysterical”, than it is to admit they’re being actively misogynistic (which they 100% are).

  • if that ideology is expansionist, it will by necessity become an existential threat to other ideologies.

This is it right here, and it’s why the world didn’t really care what a threat Putin was until he fully invaded Ukraine, or about the Uyghur genocide, or the treatment of North Koreans, or Gazans, or Kurds, and on and on - the people responsible for those are, quite deliberately, trying to keep their actions as much as they can within their own territory to avoid giving any other country reason to physically get involved (though they are deeply involved otherwise in the supports, financial and otherwise, that they provide, often to both sides of a conflict).

You can say it became a threat to their power, but is that not also a threat to their ideology? Perhaps I’m using an overly broad conception of ideology here.

No, you’re right here too, the “good guys” aren’t that good at all, and are only acting to defend their own interests - hoarding wealth and power, and maintaining the systems that enable them to do that at the expense of everyone else.
In actuality capitalistic imperialism specifically has and continues to claim more lives than probably all of the others combined (not only directly through war and invasion, but also through hunger poverty and preventable diseases which are a requirement and an inevitable result of artificial scarcity and commodification of what are basic human rights for profit), but history is written by the victors, and we are indoctrinated from birth in to false ideas of what humanity, freedom, and justice actually mean, in service of keeping us in line.

  • Only if you want to maintain the capitalist status quo by making sure the population is just comfortable enough not to turn on those few who actually benefit from it, while the rest of us scramble for these kinds of bare minimum, not even all-our-human-rights-being-met scraps, some even thanking our overlords for their generosity as they piss trickle down all over us.

  • The door to door thing might be reserved to some sects, and is absolutely a modern invention.

What isn’t is the crusades, where Christianity literally waged war on the world to try and violently convert as many people to it as possible, and once they had enough power from doing that, white and Christian supremacist colonial and imperial missionary work took over, the results of which are ongoing and still felt around the world today (for example and on topic, anti gay attitudes and legislation imposed by colonisers and imperialists on those they were forcing to convert, that still prevail).

And that’s without even going in to what the church does and has done to its own people.

So lets not pretend like Christianity is this innocent little lamb that is being wrongly targeted as a dangerous and violent idea organisation that at it’s very basis is about converting as many people to it as possible, kind of like a cancer.

Can you be a good Christian individually? Sure. Can organised and institutionalised religion be excused for the atrocities it was and still is responsible for (where do you think all the riches of the Vatican come from? God?)? Absolutely not, and by defending it, rather than calling out its faults, you are upholding the status quo instead of investing your energy in to bettering the religion you’re obviously so attached to.
