People on Lemmy link to tweets all the time and I can navigate and read them. Not sure what you mean then that it’s authwalled. It’s an annoying experience and it bugs me every time I visit to make an account or log in, but I can see them.

So let’s say on Twitter, someone blocks me and I can’t read their post. Can’t I just log out and read their post that way? I don’t have a Twitter account, so I’ve never seen a blocked link before.

Very disruptive. Landfills typically bury the day’s trash at the end of the day and it’s just layers and layers of garbage, like lasagna. You might be able to work on Monday’s trash slice, but by the time Thursday rolls around, it’s time to add a layer on top of Monday.

Digging could interrupt the entire landfill process if it’s still an active landfill, meaning the daily garbage has to be redirected elsewhere, because landfills aren’t just a hole in the ground, they are a feat of engineering.

You said that you heard it was ad blocker related too. So the initial wave of reports about it being Firefox was inaccurate. Every article about it all sourced a singular reddit post. Just some social media “journalism”.

Anecdotally, which I understand is not a great measure, I didn’t experience this when it was first being reported on. But I pay for YouTube premium, so maybe that’s a difference too

Windows wants me to update to 11, but my processor is too old. So if I’m going to update my processor, I’ll need to update the motherboard. But the OEM license is tied to the motherboard. So I’ll have to buy a new copy of windows just to get on 11.

So just gonna see if all the things I like to play work on pop os.

There was a reddit post that claimed that, and it was debunked in that same reddit post. Some website made a “news” article about it, citing said reddit post. Bigger news orgs made articles about it citing that website.

There are so many “news” websites that basically don’t do any fact checking and use social media as their sources.

My other pet peeve around social media “journalism” is when someone writes an article about a hot take on a political topic and their source is some tweet with like 2 likes and retweet. Like, that’s not a radical opinion many people share, stop making it seem like this is a common sentiment amongst the left/right.

My favorite bit of irony is how spez was throwing shade at third party apps for having the audacity to “profit” off reddits’s work for free, when that is reddits’s entire business model.

I stopped using reddit regularly when sync for reddit went down. I was curious and checked to see if sync came back, maybe the API war subsided, but instead I saw sync for lemmy.

So this is day 2. Haven’t figured everything out yet.
