Plex user here, you install app on your receiver (tv/tablet/phone/whatever) and if you so desire you can host local content via plex server running on a machine on your network. Not used it as a home screen though, as i avoid paid players.
All i want for Christmas is a large dumb tv
Sweet sweet redundancy
If you don’t want to be called there to always it support it, go for off the shelf solution. Both qnap and Synology offer the same. When i looked half a year ago, i saw Synology as being more expensive at the time so went with ts464 qnap.

Yes
Tl;dr who the fuck cares, makes some idiot sounds about a topic she onows nothing about to make more content for herself. No news.
This would be really nice on something like the pi. As I don’t have a "real2 Linux server, just a desktop that’s my main machine, but its off when not in use. Bit impractical for running this.
Manjaro user here, it works fine for me Using it for years now
Can you actually use steamdeck as a desktop PC though? Can it drive dual external monitors? Is it a reasonable “minipc” type thing? How much power does it munch on in idle?
Can I maybe put some other linux distro on it? So many questions
