I remember the Firefox 2, 3 and 4 hype back in the day trying out the betas and waiting for the release. Since 5 though I stopped caring.

True to his name, his bank got fried.

Not going to get excited about it until it had time to mature and actually used in production.

At which point, I am all for it.

I remember being hyped for GNUStep years ago and I still can’t just recompile my old Cocoa applications.

I used to be partial to Konqueror in the past. I wish it was still actively maintained and developed.

Wise decision. If public funds pay for something, then that thing should be public.

Money spent on FOSS employs locals, and helps with technology independence.

It all started with Apple choosing KDE’s KHTML instead of Gecko. Then it was compounded when Chrome forked WebKit to develop Chromium. Mozilla tried to modernize their engine but it was too little too late with the rise of the mobile web.

If all they are using their PCs for is word processing and intranet webapps, perhaps they don’t need Windows anymore. It is not like ActiveX is supported anymore.

Firefox slides into irrelevance either. I didn’t realize it has less than 4% market share. I remember when it had around 20% not too long ago
