Wonder when they’re gonna do that for Adobe products in Europe. Has to be one of the most scummiest subscription services present day. If you cancel too early you have to pay up a “cancellation” fee for remaining time of the month, or sometimes even more I believe. If you do it too late you’ll have to pay for a whole new subscription, and pay for the cancellation fee. I don’t even know why they’re allowed to pull that shit on consumers.

That’s been pretty much a similar experience I used to have. Especially online games often suffer from poor Linux support because anti-cheat systems aren’t working, or not up-to-date, or something else entirely. It just felt like there was always something. I just want to boot up my PC and get going. Not boot it up and having to spend half the evening trying to figure out why a random driver/game/anti-cheat update destroyed everything that was working fine.

I’d be fine trying it again, but I know that a few games I play are still struggling with Linux issues, judging by the regular posts popping up on the related social media platforms.

That’s the thing. I play a lot of online games, not specifically competitive games, but they frequently do use stuff like EAC. And the amount of times I’ve seen EAC issues paired with Linux posts pop up on various social platforms is ridiculous. It seems like a recurring thing that requires constant maintenance. Not to mention I use Windows for more than just games. Stuff like Adobe doesn’t even work on Linux and probably won’t be anytime soon either (and no I am not going to use alternative programs).

The effort and time it takes to get stuff working on Linux usually isn’t worth it, and then there’s hoping that everything stays working whenever something gets updated.

Until games fully support Linux or the other way around, I won’t be using Linux.

Even ‘AI’ is being abused. I always thought of AI as artificial consciousness, an unnatural and created-by-humans self-aware and self-thinking being. Most of the AI products now are just search engines, image generators and apps being programmed to do something. In fact stuff like ChatGPT would’ve made more sense to actually be called ‘Smart’ search engines instea of ‘AI’. They might be technological achievements, but they’re not AI.

A while ago I got hit in the recommended streams with a random stream of some girl with absolutely gigantic milkers in only bodypaint. Probably got away with it as some sort of ‘art’ project, despite the body paint being quite bad and she was practically doing nothing on stream at all, it was just simps throwing money at her for being on screen.

Other times there’s just girls in the ‘Just chatting’ category in tight spandex, leaving nothing to imagination, that are in suggestive poses and flaunting their gigantic tits and asses on screen. Also doing practically nothing but just posing and thanking donations.

Feels like they need to stop nitpicking about this stuff. I barely know anyone that even uses Edge, it’s almost like it just functions as a downloader for Chrome or anything else.

I used to be fine with adverts, not a big deal. Until they became insanely intrusive. Noticed that YouTube recently stopped to even show the countdown to skip or the length of the actual ad on some devices/apps, so it’s always guesswork when you can actually skip or how long it would run after the skip becomes available. And the amount of ads going in videos is getting disgusting as well, I know it’s partly up to the creators, but fucking hell I often get ads like not even a minute into the video already, often running longer than the time I’ve spent actually watching the video.

I was just stating an observation from a business point of view.

It’s also legal to own guns in some countries, doesn’t make it legal to use it to just shoot at anything, and it’s even more ridiculous to assume that everyone buying/owning guns has good intentions. There are many countries where owning a gun isn’t legal, as well as making copies of products you’ve bought, even for personal backup.

And to believe that people use emulation exclusively for their own backups is insanely naive.

Emulation might be legal, but it’s software specifically designed to run illegal copies of the games.

I dislike Nintendo, but I can’t blame them for taking down that kind of software development. They’re still selling many of their old games through their own store for their own emulators. They’re perhaps charging way too much for it and/or lock it behind a subscription wall, even if you ever bought the original copies. Absolute garbage business practice, but from the corporate point of view I can see why they go after emulators. Especially since it’s easier to take those down than trying to go after all digital emulator copies of the games (if not impossible).

They’re probably gonna try and set an example to scare off others trying to make new emulators too.

Also, the amount of excuses that people have to make backups of their already purchased games is very weak. You damn well know that a vast majority of people don’t use it for such reasons, the amount of people that still own original copies, and also have the hardware to even extract software for personal use must be like less than a percentage of the entire community using emulators. They’re just people pirating games they never paid for. It’s very naive to assume otherwise.

The platform can’t die quick enough, it turned into such a fucking cesspool of powertripping mods and circlejerks. And it’s impossible to ever get in contact with admins because they replaced them all by bots. There are also so many bot posters that at some point it’ll just be bots moderating bots, moderated by admin bots.

They can, difference is a vast majority of people don’t want to buy/build a PC, or deal with a PC setup in general, they just want to press one button to make it work and sit on the couch. So the easy option for them is buying a console, it’s plug and play, while a PC requires quite some setup.

The difference is the price of buying discs vs. buying from a digital store that has no competitors.

I’ve bought almost exclusively second-hand discs for my PS5, because they’re like half the price for the exact same content.

Sadly it’ll probably be just a matter of time before those will be phased out as well, one way or another.

It was pretty much a given that this would happen, since there were already options with and without disc drives.

And obviously sooner or later gaming will probably move to an entirely online service like streaming.

It’s just a matter of time until the internet and worldwide coverage is ready for it. I always imagined that in a distant future we’d basically only buy a controller, that connects to an app that’ll let you stream. And every game will be in a subscription service like a Netflix.
