I think you’re overstating the significance of those edits and comments.

How so?
You mean the paid awards in September they just got rid of because Fuck Users?
Yeah, using compact.
You guys have got ads on Sync? I haven’t and I’m still using the free version.
I wouldn’t recommend Sync at this stage anymore as the lone developer is gone completely AFK for months.
Despite charging £100 for a premium app tier…
Do yourself a favour and use something else. At some point I’ll try out Connect.
The prefix and suffix stars, man…
As far as I understand, this isn’t quite right (unless it’s changed recently).
If A defeds B, then A no longer sends new posts to B, accepts comments or posts from B users, or receives new posts from B. Any comments from B users on A’s old posts (made before defederation) are no longer acknowledged by A.
I think A users can still interact with B’s posts, but then I haven’t seen any beehaw users in forever. So perhaps not?
C can obviously still interact with both A and B posts normally. On posts from C, both A and B users can still interact.
So, in short defederation creates a hard wall preventing interaction between A and B. The only way A and B users can interact is on C.
It’s unfortunate as beehaw would have benefitted from a uni-directional defederation (i.e. preventing .world users from posting on beehaw, but not preventing .beehaw users from posting on .world. Unfortunately, it’s both.)
Cool, I’ll give this a try too.
Sounds interesting. I’ll take a look, thanks.
I primarily use DuckDuckGo now, but very occasionally I use google when I feel like DuckDuckGo hasn’t come up with very good results.
(I also use Google when I need a word definition - I like the layout and ability to see synonyms quickly.)
Bing I don’t use because I just can’t stand the results page layout.
Any other recommendations?
And to repeat. You have no idea how the file system on android works. You most definitely can delete/backup/etc the photos, screenshots, etc on the phone via USB. You can not easily access app data as thats encrypted and stored elsewhere.
Not if the phone doesn’t give permission to lol. I speak from personal experience of a Pixel 3a. Previously connected and all.
Nope. Had this happen with my wife’s phone. Because developer mode had not been enabled previously and the screen was completely inactive, there was absolutely no way to wipe the phone.
Choice was either pay a stupid amount of money to get the screen repaired (and I’ve had a bad experience with screen repairs actually working) or bin the phone and hope that nobody bothers to try and fix and then gain access. :/
Subscribe.
Ooh. I hope this can be set as the default for ‘Copy Link’ and then I can just have the tracking when I actually want it.
The analogy to a drug dealer is on point. They’re relying on users being hooked on their dopamine outlet.
How about sending the people responsible to prison?
A cool post pops up in your feed. You click it. You are met with an overlay that says “Sorry, this post isn’t compatible with your browser. Please log in to Threads.”
Over half your feed are Threads posts.
Speculative example.
People are concerned about Facebook/Meta trying to Embrace, Extend, Extinguish ActivityPub - if I’ve understood correctly.
Me and my wife… Got really bored. The gameplay loop is supppperr trivial, and even though they add in stuff every now and again, eh…
I dunno, it’s okay - but I just don’t get the hype. I wanted to pitch in because if someone is considering buying it I’d really recommend checking a Let’s Play of it before trying it.
It felt like a game specifically designed for a gamer to introduce gaming to their never-gamed-before partner. If you’re both experienced gamers like we are, I wonder whether you’d give up on it too.
