  • Hence the groups having the ticket name related to the task I am working on. When the task closes I delete that group once I’ve ensured anything important for future context is documented and then I say goodbye with confidence.

    I don’t bookmark things for work tasks, I log them in tickets or commit it to readme/code comments/team docs somewhere.

    Edit: I should also note that my workflow uses Simple Tab Groups and not much of this new core feature.

    Simple tab groups hides all other tabs and you switch groups via a dropdown. I usually only have 10-12 tabs open at once.

    The way they did it though… the tab group name cant be collapsed so it takes a lot of room. I find I’m still using task oriented groups from the Simple Tab Groups extension, and then using the new core groups feature as a way to group subtopics for that task.

    And before you say “you must have a million tabs”… I used to have millions of tabs, but now i average less than 100 when I have a lot of tasks I need to balance, and I know what all of them are open for. So when I complete a task I delete the Simple Tab Group and say by Felicia to all those tabs.







  • Its supposed to be illegal for banks to be in “sales” but my wife was working for BMO and they were forcing her to prioritize outbound cold calls ans upselling products the customer didnt need and would clearly be bad for their financials as a Personal Banking Assistant. The conflict of interest was so great it stressed her right the fuck out and she had to take leave and start therapy. Her MS also spiked likely due to the stress levels. She was there to help people, and she made the bank earn loyal customers and they willing got more products from the bank because she helped them. She was the top performer at the bank if she just let her do the job she was there to do, but instead her boss started ragging on her daily about her cold calling numbers and forcing her to cancel necessary appointments and focus time to deal with customer requests and instead prioritize sales.

    In the end her numbers dropped, her customer satisfaction dropped, and her MS got worse from the stress and she’s now on long term leave, uncertain if she’ll recover her focus and able to go back to work. Her neurologist has said she cannot go back for now.

    Not sure how that bullshit helped the bank, but I can sure see how I didn’t, and I may be wrong but I think there are laws against it.

    Also worth noting that this change in tactics happened right at the same time BMO took all their “we’re here to help” signage down. Brings so many memories of Google dropping the “don’t be evil”. Everything that came after in both cases was shit.

  • Still not ready to trust AMD/ATI again. I used them exclusively right up until they bought ATI and then decided fuck open source and the drivers for Linux tanked.

    I hear all the issues folks have had with Intel/NVIDIA but I have yet to experience any of them. From where I’m sitting they are still working great. And their open source has not been perfect but its consistent. Instead of going from being golden to fuck you Linux folks overnight.
