My boss didn’t need Recall to do that to me a decade ago. He called me out for going offline in our messenger app for an hour after lunch while I was helping another tech sort an emergency for a client from their machine.

I told him that’s fine, I’ll just let everyone know that I won’t be assisting and will show them that email every time anyone asks. He backed off, but not everyone is going to get that lucky to have a complete moron who is going to put dumb shit threats in writing without running it by anyone in legal, HR, or their own boss.

I think that’s why they’re big mad at Harris. They don’t have time to spin up a worthless investigation about her and Walz.

Heavy rock music, mostly pop covers that we converted but we had to play my friend’s original about fucking his ex girlfriend’s sister about halfway through and a blues/rockabilly song another friend wrote about only missing a woman when he’s drunk to close out.

Now I’m watching a hard rock band cover a bunch of shit from the 50s. This is pretty cool.

I worked for a company where that happened a decade and change ago. It was a total shit show. I was lucky and got out.

Yeah, I know, but I’m hung over and having a bad day. Those people bring nothing to society and in most cases actively harm their employees and customers before gutting businesses, taking the money, and starting over on the next business.

I was like that in my teens and early 20s. Not conservative, just hated anything that appeared popular. I was insufferable. This dude really seems like an old ass pizza cutter. All edge, no point.

You’re absolutely right. The DIY landscape is so incredibly different. Now you can get an electric guitar with reasonable QC and an amp with modeling and a hundred presets that plugs directly into your computer to record. There’s loads of free lessons online that show people how to play instruments. There are tabs for almost every song put out by any semi-popular artist so you don’t have to try to reverse engineer them anymore. There are backing tracks. We didn’t have any of that shit. We had a solid state amp with two channels, one of which was poorly distorted.

And I’m here for it. It’s not my dad’s punk. It’s not my punk and pop punk. It belongs to new people and I’m excited for them to look back at it the way I look back at the bands that excited me when I was a kid. They’ll have new genres built upon the shoulders of the ones I listened to, which stood on the shoulders of those that came before.

They got this one right for the wrong reasons. It happens occasionally.

I have HoloISO running around on mini PCs because they just work as remote steam machines, can play games in their own right, and I can use them as media boxes if I want. I don’t necessarily recommend it, but it was super easy to install and configure except for the Bluetooth issue that cropped up occasionally where I had to unload and reload the Bluetooth module. Now I just have a script that automatically does that on boot because I can’t give a shit about fixing it.

I also have a couple of Slax USBs running around. They used to be relatively popular with folks who fixed computers. I like building from modules and I’m familiar with Slackware so it was a good fit for a live environment.

This is accurate. I mostly know Ampex because of their history with audio recording, but I’m passingly familiar with some of the other things they did.
