Can one really fault Ukraine for making the decision to fight back when the decision was already made for them?
No-one (but you) said “fault”.
The message you responded to only pointed out that the Ukrainians, too, put ideology above human lives. If you can’t fault the Ukrainians for fighting the Russians, then you can’t fault them for putting ideology above human lives.
Valuing human lives is itself an ideology/viewpoint. A great one obviously, and one I fervently agree with, but once you realize this it’s easier to understand how other people can put other viewpoints ahead of this one.
True but not relevant to the point being made.
Because without it, the DOJ would have no control over you, duh

I assume that banning all robocalls requires new legislation, whereas the regulation mentioned here didn’t.
The way you equate capitalism with democracy, and then tacitly imply that Che Guevara must therefore have stood against democracy, is American propaganda.
YouTube should just be government-run. No ads. Content creators can make money from sponsorships and Patreon. Which, incidentally, should also be government-run. And Twitter. These modern technologies should simply be public goods.
Hot take: you don’t need a microwave oven at all. I’ve been living without one for 12 years now and I don’t miss it. It’s surprisingly rare for the instructions on food packaging to require a microwave; they almost always have options for ovens or stoves, too.
He’s a CEO precisely because he does things like this. CEOs are selected for maximum profitability at the detriment of literally everything else. That’s also why psychopathy is way more widespread among CEOs than the general population.
Should have dated a Klingon woman.
That would be easier for Reddit to just undo. It’s more effective to just not moderate at all and show Reddit what happens when anyone can post anything.
I love how the Reddit logo in the first panel looks kinda like the flag of North Korea.
I’m a hobby web programmer and I’m completely blown away by how smoothly this site runs, how well it scaled, how full-featured it is despite its youth, and how unbelievably dedicated the developer (ernest) is. I cannot possibly have a single complaint.
In fact I’ve often thought about giving back by helping with the development. I’m just a little guy but maybe some little contributions help too. Unfortunately I’m just not very experienced with PHP.
Discord is a private corporation just like Reddit. Moving to Discord is, as some might say, out of the frying pan into the fire.
Because it puts a considerable strain on Kbin’s servers, because there is a lot of content to crawl.
I suspect (hope, even) that if Kbin runs on beefier hardware some time in the future, crawling can be enabled. However, since Kbin is completely free and devoid of ads, we would probably need to start a donation drive to make that happen.
Thanks for the summary. Great to hear some variety of opinions. I’m personally very fond of Hacker News and appreciate its basic UI. The lemmy.ml moderation stuff is of course a whole separate beast.
Mind me asking what exactly you find off about Lemmy? I wanted to try Lemmy but the login page appears to be broken, so I can’t use it.
Not with that attitude
