Also /lib is where some people keep discarded capitalists
Also zeppo@lemmy.world. Not a lot of Zeppos out here.

That’s what I thought too. This is directory structure, not file systems.
/home is often on a separate volume. You’d want root to be available in a maintenance situation where /home may not be mounted.
I don’t recall the reasons for the addition but /media is newer than /mnt.
Ah, they guy who tried to get Paypal to switch to running on Windows strikes again.
It doesn’t transmit the data; it supposedly stores it locally. The issue is it’s a huge convenient plaintext trove of information if the system is compromised.
Who knows? You could analyze the email to see if the links are legit. The URL suggested appears to be; don’'t follow it by clicking it though.
It’s very simple to have multiple desktop environments installed. You can select which one to use from the login screen, or launch X from a console and then start the DE from the command line.
It would be no problem to remove the office software you’re not using. I doubt that’s connected to any other packages through dependencies.
Half a dozen people have accused him of sexual assault.
Have you tried changing your default search to something else?
I assume because it’s more customizable.
I meant how Facebook chose a different logo than the commonly accepted one.
That’s the problem, they’ve changed the logo in part to make it more welcoming to Patriot Dog Mommy 🇺🇸✝️
It’s slightly askew, so neutral in the Pentacle-Pentagram spectrum. That wouldn’t matter to “PATRIOT DOG MOMMY 🇺🇸🇺🇸✝️🇺🇸🇺🇸 MAGA 2024” on Facebook though. Obviously Satan.
It also looks kinda like a pentagram, which might not work given some of their userbase.
This is splendid. 100% fuck DoorDash and UberEats.
Oh, it’s still wildly overvalued. Tesla is worth more than half a dozen other automakers combined, and I don’t see any reason for that. I’m just saying the current price doesn’t really represent a large drop.
Tesla definitely sucks, but headlines like this are so useless. Check out a 5 year chart. Tesla stock hit a 2 year low at the beginning of last year…. that was significant, down to 120. Then it recovered to a fairly average price, where it’s been since then (this made musk the person to “lose” and “gain” record amounts of wealth in a short time). The recent dip hasn’t been extremely significant…. It’s like 245 to 217.
Generally you own what you post, but you have given a license to the site to display and use it. In the US, social media sites are protected by something called Section 230. This allows sites to display user-generated content without being liable for legal issues related to it, as long as they do a decent job of trying to moderate clearly illegal content.
I’ve barely ever used threads, in a large part because they don’t have a fully functional website and require use of an app. So I have no idea… I assume there’s some quality content but I agree that it must be flooded with BS too. I’d be interested in seeing what a Lemmy instance connected to threads looks like. I assume it would wreck browsing ‘New’.
That’s a US-only extension mainly used by Facebook and Twitter members.
