I feel like there might be an emerging market for a car company that makes new, safe cars with very low tech computer systems.

Maybe for you, but there are use cases where traffic data isn’t vital, like driving in small or medium sized towns where traffic doesn’t ever get too bad. Or road trips where there is only one feasible route, and any other way would take hours longer.

I’d like to go ahead and preemptively express my concerns that this technology could be used to create convincing videos of a person dropping multiple mini doughnuts on the floor, at which point they start crying, sit down, and then start eating the doughnuts off the floor. If such a video ever surfaces of me, we’ll know my fears were well founded.

I’m curious to see if AI tech can actually help fight some of the bullshit out there someday. I agree that current AI is only making it easier to produce bullshit, but I think with some advances it could be used to parse a long-winded batch of bullshit, and summarize it, maybe with bullet points about how the source material is wrong. If they can make an AI as confident as chatgpt, but without as much of the “makes stuff up left and right” it could be useful.

THEN we just have to worry about who owns the AI that parses and summarizes the info we take in, and what kind of biases they’ve baked into the tech…
