Cool, another app I won’t download and will look sideways at whoever does.
If I see its userbase consists of gen z and younger I will be very disappointed.
average man by day, average man by night. / you get more points being on lemmy than you do on reddit / movie enthusiast / /u/doug on reddit

In my case I’m just posting a lot to already-created communities found in the Lemmy directory that’ve got a chunk of subscribers.
If you’re going to start your own community for your own interest, I’d advise at least setting up on an already-populated Lemmy server (which you would have to be registered on) so it gets listed in the local directory.
If you’re going to host the Lemmy server and your community, I have no experience on that front/I would imagine there’s a lot of SEO and self-promotion you’d have to do to get it off the ground.
i’m more curious about getting on their venmo friend list.
“hey, it’s uh, vlad. i need 200k for the um, rigging of the midterms in uh, wisconsin. thank you.”
I mostly contribute here, mostly.
(edit: changed it to a relative link instead of a permalink so you can subscribe from other instances)
You gotta Field of Dreams it. I’m doing it for LV426/the Aliens universe. Just treat it like you’re starting a forum or a newsletter and, hopefully in time, others will contribute and it’ll grow organically.
The Voyager iOS App makes it feel like I never left.
This for-profit social platform will be different guys!
Startup idea: OkCupid but for communes. Matchmake a commune of people together. Can chunks of society go on without these management leeches?
Thunderbird is just a mail app, not a mail provider.
imo this friction will erode as larger instances come into play; people will join a large, main instance without even knowing of the others, and-- if they have a problem with the instance they joined-- they’ll find they can easily jump ship there.
You’re right, I should set my expectations now.
