The nobel prize comitte has since long abandoned Nobel’s will in this matter
How long? Wouldn’t this just kind of suggest that criteria is simply different at this point? Maybe complex electronic devices didn’t exist back then, so one can really only guess as to what he would think. Because he’s been dead for a very long time…
The prize is named after the dude, he doesn’t get to decide the rules of its award in perpetuity.
Another symptom of extremely silo’d educations. As someone in a STEM field who took a couple years extra to graduate because they didn’t declare a major for two years, I see this shit constantly. Clearly, very intelligent people who have been once again let down by our education system, but this time at the University level.
To the point where I will probably get downvotes and angry replies about how learning that other stuff is useless. But I can tell you that it’s absolutely not. I’m an engineer, and “Logic and Language” is still, by far, the most important course I’ve ever taken…
The person is literally talking about their real life job… Maybe it’s a foreign concept to you, but I’m not sure you can get more “grass touch” than that, bud.
AKA, “let the poors die while I hide out in my bunker, and emerge as a feudal lord among the survivors nearby”
EndeavourOS was the first Linux distro I used when I switched a little over a year ago.
I have not tried any other because I have felt no need. And I’ve gotten so used to using pacman, and Arch repositories for maintaining everything, that I have no reason to try anything else
yt-dlp is the gold standard. Not only for YouTube either. Check out the man page, the amount of shit it can do is insane.
Never raw dog the net like that…
They’ll probably just end up making a (very expensive) method of obscuring themselves from the recognition tech. That way they won’t need to pass any laws, and ad companies (or cops or anyone else who knows how to jailbreak their hardware. Probably) can still take advantage of the technology in some way.
Because 💰
Ads you say?
I’ll have to take your word for it…
I imagine they’re mostly going to target videos and channels that review those devices that you buy pre-loaded with 1TB of ROMs or whatever. Videos about and highlighting products that are blatantly infringing on like a billion copyrights.
If you make money from emulation, you’ll get fucked (and honestly I’m kind of ok with that). However, it is a bit extreme to copyright claim videos that are just talking about said products.
With all that’s said, I would think people doing video essays and shit will be fine. Then again, this is Nintendo so who knows.

Super Mario Odyssey is one of the best games ever made. And no, it’s not a “sandbox”. And certainly not phoned in. I enjoyed Super Mario Wonder too.
Also the new Zelda game that just came out the other day is pretty great.
I own original hardware and buy 100% of my games but sometimes you just wanna run games that aren’t originally crossplatform on your Steamdeck for convenience, or on a PC with resolution upscaling, or for ease of streaming the gameplay, or tons of other legitimate reasons.
Can’t wait until our courts decide that, due to the prevalence of “remasters” that are just upscaled ROMs running on emulators, that this is no longer considered “fair use.”
It’s definitely not extremely common.
Surely use-case is important? Someone running a server that’s on 24/7 vs. someone running it on a laptop or desktop that they shut down every day.
I imagine it varies wildly by distro, hardware, use-case, etc.
Linux systems usually consume more energy than identical systems with other operating systems
Is this true?
I got a Framework, and the 16:10 aspect ratio allows for the two bars without messing up most applications as they’re mostly geared toward 16:9. Full screen games go over both bars.
KDE these days is better at being Windows than Windows. Dunno how long it’s been since you’ve used it (or how much/little you tinkered with it)
