there’s no way to opt out
Yes there is a way to opt out. Just opt out of Facebook and Meta products all together.
It doesn’t help that they are using facebook-like tactics to try and force/coerce you to download and use their app. I recently was trying to find help getting through a difficult part of a game. Reddit seemed to be where most of the good user discussions were at. Reddit’s mobile page would give me a pop-up stating that this community was not “trusted” and that I need to view on the app or go to the Reddit front page. There was no option to ignore. Trying to close the pop-up would just send me to the front page. Luckily, I know about old.reddit. That’s going to go away eventually though.
I see the same thing. However if you go to the link to this post on kbin.social, you can see the other comments. It’s weird. https://kbin.social/m/technology@lemmy.world/t/371933 Edit: the hyperlink won’t display properly in this comment. You have to copy the whole link and paste it in your browser.
I’m pretty sure their main issue is that they don’t want to be the ones doing the age verification. Louisiana set up a state run verification system, and pornhub has continued to operate their site in the state. I don’t want porn sites to have my ID info.
I hate all the “baking” competitions. So much of it is just rice crispy treat sculptures covered in fondant. They also film several competitions at the same time. I saw an interview with someone who judged for those shows. She said she was barely tasting the dishes because she had to try so many in a day, that it made her feel sick.
I’ve also been spoiled by British Baking Show. They only film one season at a time. They film over one weekend for each episode. Often times the best dishes look the worst, but the judges care more about flavor and texture than looks.
