Genuinely curious how long you could continue getting people to sink advertising dollars into the bot playground. If he played it smart I bet he could get a solid decade or so of people paying to show ads to AIs without telling them all the people are gone. Maybe longer, if he’s really smart and actually tells them for real that there’s no people in there but that their marketing materials will be incorporated into the AI in/output.

Because when you get pissed off at one shitty video and click off it to find a better one, that’s free real estate in which to double your ads.

This might be permissible as parody, but I don’t think you’re going to win a court case if you use it in business advertising and Bill decides he has something to say about it.

In what situation do you need one?

I’ve been using Firefox for over a decade and have literally never once needed to open a different web browser. For anything, ever. This is a very common complaint that tons of people seem to have that I have never seen happen even once out in the wild.

Somebody got smacked because they were told that this was a safe area to be in. Then they get hit, and are blamed for not being careful enough in the area they were told was safe to be in.

What core utilities does Firefox need that it doesn’t have? Honest question. I’ve been using it over a decade and never had it fail to do something I asked it to, and I’m a little out of the loop on the web browser development news cycle beyond the recent wave of Google Bad.

Okay, so, I agree with you in spirit, but this sounds like you’re attempting to legislate that social media companies are not allowed to pursue user engagement of their product. Basically telling them that they’re not allowed to seek profit. I don’t actually know how you go about drafting a law that describes this correctly, or how you actually enforce it after it’s in place. Basically every move these companies make would then have to be subject to scrutiny by a court of investigators to see if it falls outside of legal boundaries or not, and said court is statistically likely to be chock full of people that have less than zero idea of what they are actually looking at.

That particular genie is out of the bottle and I don’t know how we put it back in short of banning social media and/or advertising altogether, which is basically a non starter, that’s not realistically going to happen. I do support this goal but we need to cook this a little more to get an actual solution and not a leaky band-aid.

And that’s fine, different strokes and all. I personally find it highly goddamn hilarious and enjoy playing it with my gaming group. I just think it’s a little disingenuous to say “palworld devs did nothing to prevent this, sad” when the whole original concept was basically designed around parodying Pokémon. The whole game was intended from the very beginning to thumb their nose at Nintendo, just so happens that it got really popular and sold a ton of copies because it isn’t difficult to make a better Pokémon game than The Pokémon Company does, even when the entire game in question is a shitpost.

Interesting… The Wikipedia page for Crazy Taxi talks about their lawsuit with Simpsons Road Rage in 2001, for using the overhead arrow among other complaints. But makes no mention at all of Midnight Club, who by 2005 when I got Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition was using that same overhead arrow for in-race directions. I don’t see screenshots of Midnight Club 1 or 2 having the arrow but I can guarantee from personal experience that MC3:DUB did have them. I wonder what happened in those four years that made Rockstar not afraid to use that mechanic, especially as this section on the Crazy Taxi page states
