Do you dream often of being Perry Farrell?
That part I like.
I’m not a fan of the long nails because it hurts my insides.
I’m not your buddy, guy!
You’re right. I see no more intrinsic value in having 1mil users, versus 15k. And nothing you can say is likely to convince me that quantity determines or makes for a valuable platform. We’ve seen the growth mentality and resulting corporate greed destroy numerous platforms already.
You’re arguing quantity over quality. I do not care the least for bootstrapped growth at the detriment of the platform. I also do not care about people who idolize and platform hop in order to follow celebrities. I suspect very few will bring with them value beyond increased traffic.
If you want this, Reddit is still an option available to you.
Fuck the celebrities. They aren’t your people, peers, or friends. They adopt platforms only when they determine they can make a buck from it. They’re the kids that break your new toys, and you’re suggesting we keep inviting them over to play.
They will only bring enshittification. Having a platform that isn’t celebrity friendly is a boon.
I honestly hope they never adopt the fediverse. Imagine wanting that.
KingCobraJFS has 105,000 subscribers and he’s a celebrity.
The mukbang and feeder fetish elements didn’t spell that out before? This isn’t a new revelation.
You drank the kool-aid.
Very crisp and cohesive. I also like the choice to use the pill icon/character as a recurring logo of sorts.

It seems to be at random, and many of the instances don’t work correctly. You’re better off finding one that does, and setting it as default.
onionized
Fair points.
The biggest motivating factor for my use case was that it was more than happy to run off a USB C cable tapped into my solar bank’s 12v line. So for boondocking, it was a great solution.
I can confirm that the one I used 3 years ago could stream Netflix and HBO from browser, no problem. It also handled local files in VLC like a champ.
I even installed Steam and played a handful of non-resource-intensive games on it.
I’d buy another in a heartbeat for use as media rig. This time I’d install barebones Debian on it, instead of med-weight MX like I did prior. It’d probably perform even better.
I don’t know, maybe there’s a healthy medium? My home computing is still very personal.
I will hang out on IRC with friends, while I hack away on my low-tech coding projects in the background.
My smart phone is primarily used for comms and navigation, and I’m not stuck to it out in public.
I refuse a smart home, and the only mindless automation I take part in is dedicated to movies and TV.
Circling back around, I do feel like not all hope is currently lost.
