    shocking users

Are they shocked though? It’s getting common for piracy sites to disappear or move to different domains, there are always alternatives

‘Millenials are ruining headlines’ is a level of meta I’ve yet to see from that trope.

You used the term ‘millennial journalism’ in reference to shitty headlines. That pretty directly implies that millenials are responsible for shitty headlines.

That said: whoa nelly, my comment was a joke, not an argument. A pretty flaccid joke too, to warrant this kind of defense. I’m not your enemy, alright?

One head gets chopped off, two new ones spawn.

It’s always an issue of service. Make it more available. Adjust the price. Increase content availability. It’s not a rocket science problem, it’s just a problem of corporate greed, and law abuse

Yeah. I legally owned most of the seasons of South Park. Then their parent company was sold to whoever owns Paramount+ and I can’t legally buy seasons anymore. I have to subscribe to Paramount+ instead. I’m just gonna pirate that shit.

Not to mention some episodes ended up banned. I don’t remember the season, but there was an episode where Kyle joined a cult and the super rescue team was composed of Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed and some other religious figures.

I didnt even know this particular site existed, but who cares? I dun’ been piratin since the days of napster. I ordered shitty cds of DBZ from the internet when amazon was a fucking bookstore. besides, anyone who knows knows there’s a constant refreshed list of piracy sites. And anyone who knows knows how to search for "free media.

    heck yeah" they do.

Meanwhile, I just search “watch anime online” on ddg or yandex and check around, while ublock origins does its job and ensures I don’t get harassed by ads and shit clickjack javascript (the ones where clicking anywhere opens the ad). A good pirate never makes a single port his home

EDIT: Ok, something that really caught my attention in the article: In April, (...) Japanese authorities arrested and prosecuted China-based owners of "one of the biggest illegal anime websites," B9GOOD. - Now THAT is unexpected. China complying with Japanese copyright for a change?

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Thousands of anime fans were shocked Thursday when the popular piracy site Animeflix voluntarily shut down without explaining why, TorrentFreak reported.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Animeflix,” the site’s operators told users in a Discord with 35,000 members.

Although Animeflix operators did not connect the dots for users, TorrentFreak suggested that the piracy site chose to shut down after facing “considerable legal pressure in recent months.”

Then in mid-May, rightsholders—including Netflix, Disney, Universal, Paramount, and Warner Bros.—won an injunction through the High Court of India against several piracy sites, including Animeflix.

On Reddit, some fans also complained after relying exclusively on Animeflix to keep track of where they left off on anime shows that often span hundreds of episodes.

“We hope the joy and excitement of anime continue to brighten your days through other wonderful platforms," Animeflix’s Discord message said.

The original article contains 510 words, the summary contains 147 words. Saved 71%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

edit I get it, this doesn’t replace a p2p site. I was just watching Frieren via piratebay and thought it was so awesome that I wanted that the makers of it get some money from me watching it so I switched to crunchyroll.

I used it for a while, until they put some old shows (1990 era) I was in the middle of watching behind a paywall.

I get it for new shows, but I was happily watching old stuff with ads blocked by ad-block. Theres probably a reason for the change, but I can’t guess why. /s

They were also down every other week, so I wasn’t going to pay for something I could only use 75% of the time.

Strange, because Wikipedia tells me that the highest-grossing Japanese film in Japan of all time was an anime, as were the next five and most of the others on the list:

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_Japanese_films#Highest-grossing_Japanese_films_in_Japan

That’s a whole lot of losers for one small country.

Of course, that’s just the highest-grossing Japanese film in Japan. The highest grossing film made anywhere in Japan is… the exact same anime, followed by another anime.

Sure. Not everyone in Western countries went to see Avengers movies. I wouldn’t suggest that the vast numbers of Westerners who did go are all losers just because they could have been listening to Delta Blues instead.

May I remind you of your original comment:

Good. Even one less person watching anime is a win for humanity

For one, they’re not weebs they’re just anime otaku, but also that is only a subset of anime and it’s mostly just a judgemental stereotype. They have ads on the subway for birthday events for popular anime characters ffs. Many pachinko machines are anime themed, including after late night anime which are the negatively stereotyped ones. You know who doesn’t have enough money to be a profitable target for gambling establishments? People with no job living in a basement.

And that’s all while ignoring that pretty much no one chooses that life style voluntarily and I see no reason to make fun of these people.
